Hotel Management involves a combination of many skill; general management,
food and beverage service, housekeeping, sales and marketing, personnel
management, front office operations, public relations, accounting and
bookkeeping etc to suit individual skills and qualities.
Course/Training
Hotel Management courses are usually of three year duration leading to the grant
of a diploma./degree but some degree courses are also of four years duration.
The syllabus covers administration and organization of the industry, personnel
and organizational behaviour, knowledge of foreign language, economics,
principle of management, applied science, front office operations. Relevant law
and general aspects of tourism and hotel business, food and beverages service,
staff management and organization, housekeeping, basics of cookery covering all
kinds of cooking, etc. The National Council for Hotel Management and Catering
Technology (NCHMCT) at Pusa, New Delhi was set up to focus the need for training
professionals for the hospitality industry. NCHMCT and Indira Gandhi National
Open University, New Delhi offer 3yr B.Sc in Hospitality and Hotel
Administration at twenty odd government sponsored institutes of Hotel Management

Minimum qualification required is plus two or equivalent examination.
