Law is written or positive rule or a collection of rules prescribed under the
authority of the sate or nation, as by the people in its constitution. A
Lawyer is a confidential adviser to whom people turn for legal advice in a
wide variety of matters. They specialize in a particular branch of legal works
such as : Civil law, Labour law, Criminal Law, Intellectual Property Rights,
Tax Law
Course/Training
The basic qualification required for establishing one in the legal
profession is a law degree (LLB). The degree in law can be
acquired in two levels : one after any graduation one can take up three
year LLB programme from any recognized university or two one can take
up a five year law programme after completion of plus two or equivalent
examination. The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) at
Bangalore was set up by the Bar Council of India as a premier institute
for the study of law. NLSIU is the pioneering institute for the five
year law programme. An emerging trend is to offer 5yr Integrated Law
programmes with variations beyong B.A.LL.B (Hons) such as B.Sc.LL.B
(Hons) and B.B.A.LL.B (Hons)
