Physical Fitness
The Indian psyche has now undergone a sea-change with the social acceptance of
sports as a fulltime career. Sports persons are increasingly becoming a much
sought after commodity a select breed which is cautiously handpicked and
reared in the best possible environ. Sports coaches and Physical Education
instructors/teachers now have more responsible and challenging roles to play.
Course/Training
3 year Bachelor of Physical Education (B P Ed) programmes are offered after plus
two in some universities while 1yr Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.E) open
to graduates is offered in most universities. Master’s degree (M P Ed/M P E) can
be pursued after completing the bachelor’s degree. It is possible to pursue Ph.D
and this makes it possible to become a lecturer in the physical education
department of a university or in a sports college/university of physical
education. Research is also an option.
